To Me:

I don't believe that any unlicensed, untrained person should be giving medications..period! You should have some knowledge of why you are giving it, side effects, interactions etc. if you are going to administer a drug. The fact that you cannot even SPELL the medications you are giving says it all.

Medical Assistant math teaches whole number review including roman numerals; fractions; decimals; ratio and proportions; percents; metric system; ;combined applications; pre-algebra basics; readnig drug labels, medicine cups, syringes and IV Fluid bags; apothecary measurement and conversions; dosage calculations; parenterial dosage; intravenous fluid adminsitration and basic dosage by body weight. This math is very specific to the medical field.

I'm seven weeks pregnant with my first child. I've worked as a CNA for three years and have been with the Nursing Home for five years, I was in dietary prior to switching. I'm one of the only workers left for my particular shift who knows what their doing, with that said I tend to do more work: about fourteen residents per round. Its insanely exhuasting. I am constantly getting sick due to my weakened immune system and exhaustion. Some of my co-workers worked right up to their third trimesester, in agony of course. Hopefully your nursing home uses proper transfering practices and offer plenty of time to get off your feet and take a break. My faciltiy doesn't, and while my co-workers claim that I'm being too 'winey' about my pregnancy, I know that I absolutely can not/will not risk my child's health for this job. I plan to take a early LOA till I feel I can work again. If you haven't worked at your facility long enough to benifit from a paid leave, then absolutely quit. I honestly can't think of a worse job to have while pregnant. You'll be mentally and physically exhausted everynight while also being exposed to countless illnesses and combative residents. Pregnant as a CNA is do-able but NOT recommended.
